Scratch

Developed by the MIT Media LabScratch is a visual programming language for children age 6 and up.  Scratch website defines it as “a programming language that makes it easy to create interactive art, stories, simulations, and games – and share those creations online”.

What can you do with Scratch?

  • Do you like to draw? Draw pictures, graphics and illustrations on Scratch. With those pictures, you can write a story or get a friend to work with you who can come up with a story. You can create animation effects to your creations to make a live story on Scratch Stage.
  • Create art projects, musical bands, dance parties and puzzles with snapping scratch blocks and your imagination. It is easy to start and create your first project with Scratch with an example.
  • Build your own video games like platfromer games, car racing, maze, trivia and much more.

This Summer, Start from Scratch – Introduce Computer Programming to kids

Want to make your child’s screen time turn into something creative and useful? Than show them how to build it with Scratch. Scratch is a kid-friendly learning environment where children (and anyone who wish to study Computer Programming), can learn how to write a computer program.

Well, it not only about Computer Programming. It’s about expressing yourself the way you like. Do you like to draw? Draw pictures, graphics and illustrations on Scratch. With those pictures, you can add your own story or get a friend to work with you who can come up with a story. You can give animation effects to your creations to make a live story on Scratch Stage.

There is more than that. It is fun to create art projects, musical bands, dance parties and puzzles with snapping scratch blocks and your imagination. It is easy to start and create your first project with Scratch with an example.

If all you like is a video game, then this is your place. Imagine a game you would like to play and start creating it right with Scratch. It is a perfect platform to learn developing a computer game if you don’t know anything about Computer Programming.

I feel the same for my 2 years old when he taps his little fingers on a smart phone or tablet. I know these feelings are true for every other parents. Our kids are growing with technology. It would be really great to see them “create” with these resources/technology/gadgets than just to “use” them either to play or watch or click.
